1 Feb 2010 Advice

Fencing masks are NOT standard specified sizes between manufacturers. One supplier's small may be another's medium for instance.

The Sword Price Fighter body wire we purchased was incorrectly wired on delivery - disappointing.

Make sure your foil/epee is properly set. Ask your club armourer for details!

6 July 2009 Advice

Cheapest Jackets and Breeches are the Sword Price Fighter range followed by the Leon Paul Spartan range. The Spartan range is not padded however.

Don't try to save money with budget lames!

Get an 800N under-plastron as you can always use it at club and competitions.

There are different levels of fencing achievement awarded by the BFA. In practice, most respect is gained by demonstrating your skills on the fencing piste itself but it still helps to have an idea of how your own fencing skills are progressing. By the end of the beginners course you will be at BFA foil grade 1 standard.
